About Sam Manicom:
Sam Manicom is a world renowned adventure motorcycle traveller and the author of four books that should be in every motorcyclist’s library.
He was born in the Belgian Congo and moved to England with his family when he was 10 years old. Drawn to adventure from a young age he hitchhiked and backpacked in many parts of the world, including a three year solo backpacking trip when he was 21 years old to Europe, India and Australia.

Back in the UK, adventure called, so he learned to ride a motorcycle and just three months later set out to travel the length of Africa. What was supposed to be a one year trip turned in to eight years spanning 55 countries. Sam wrote four books that describe his epic journey, and has been heavily involved in the motorcycle adventure industry since his last trip. He’s spent many years helping organize the UK Horizons Unlimited meets, writes magazine articles and does travel presentations in the UK, mainland Europe and the USA. He’s also been a co-host for six years running on our ARR RAW show and has been interviewed on Adventure Rider Radio, the BBC and other broadcasts.
Sam is a huge supporter of everything motorcycle related, and via his books, articles and presentations is a great source of advice for travellers around the world and always encourages others to go out and live their dreams.
