To get the answers to these questions, we asked former racers and now top riding instructors, Jimmy Lewis from Jimmy Lewis Off-Road and Pat Jacques from ADV Woman.
Also in this episode, Pat Jacques introduces the listener to the Jacques Turn. A new method designed by Pat for short riders - to allow them an easier way to begin a sharp turn from a standstill.

Jimmy Lewis is a champion adult mini-bike racer, he also won the Baja 1000, the Dubai Winter Rally, is an ISDE Silver Vase World Champion, a four time International Six Days Enduro Gold Medalist - a Dakar Podium Finisher and double class winner for single and twin cylinder. He was a KTM and BMW Honda sponsored pro rider.
On top of that Jimmy was the off-road editor for Cycle World magazine and the editor of Dirt Rider magazine.
The Jimmy Lewis Off-Road Riding School teaches safe motorcycle riding skills to riders of all abilities on all types of bikes. Based out of Nevada, classes run Fall through Spring.

ADV Woman: Pat Jacques
Since she was first on a minibike at the age of 8 years old, Pat has been passionate about riding. She got her first “real” motorcycle when she was 11 years old, a 1972 Honda SL100, as a reward for doing well in school. Soon she followed her brother in racing MX, first in girl’s classes, and then in boys classes. And she has since spent most of her biking career racing MX in men’s classes. Now retired from racing, her passion for riding has branched out in to empowering women riders.
In 2016, Pat Jacques hosted the first annual motorcycle adventure rally, ADV Woman Rally, run by women, all women instructors, for women and their families.
